HOW IS DIABETES DIAGNOSED

HbA1C TEST

6.5% or more = DIABETES

less than 5.7% = NORMAL

ORAL GLUCOSE TOLERANCE TEST (OGTT)

200mg/dl after 2 hours of oral glucose load = DIABETES

less than 140mg/dl = NORMAL

FASTING PLASMA GLUCOSE TEST (FPG)

126mg/dl or more = DIABETES

less than 100mg/dl = NORMAL
